"One of our most important challenges in life is to remain mindful of who we are and what we are doing. To keep this awareness present all the time is a great support for spiritual growth. One aspect of a spiritual life is to live consciously. For that, we need to be as fully aware as possible. Without mindfulness, we end up sleepwalking through life. We act without realizing what we are doing."

"Praise and blame are only others impressions and opinions; they’re not what we really are. We have to examine our own attitudes and behavior and develop a realistic view of ourselves. In that way, we can assess our own strengths and weaknesses.
When we are confident, others criticisms don’t disturb our peace of mind. Why should it? Criticism doesn’t mean we are stupid or bad. It’s simply another’s opinion, that’s all."

Do not try to become anything.
Do not make yourself into anything.
Do not be a meditator.
Do not become enlightened.
When you sit, let it be.
What you walk, let it be.
Grasp at nothing.
Resist nothing.
If you haven't wept deeply, you haven't begun to meditate.

If you don't wish to be reborn in Buddha's Pureland, where else do you wish to be reborn?
Note : 6 realms (Heaven, humans, demi-gods, hell, animals & ghosts realms are not eternal, they are not places to call home).

Daikaku
Whether you are going or staying or sitting or lying down,
the whole world is your own self.
You must find out
whether the mountains, rivers, grass, and forests
exist in your own mind or exist outside it.
Analyze the ten thousand things,
dissect them minutely,
and when you take this to the limit
you will come to the limitless,
when you search into it you come to the end of search,
where thinking goes no further and distinctions vanish.
When you smash the citadel of doubt,
then the Buddha is simply yourself.
the whole world is your own self.

Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water.
The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken.
Although its light is wide and great,
The moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide.
The whole moon and the entire sky
Are reflected in one dewdrop on the grass.

When one does what Buddhas do, one is a Buddha.
When one does what Bodhisattvas do, one is a Bodhisattva.
When one does what Arhats do, one is an Arhat.
When one does what ghosts do, one is a ghost.
These are all natural phenomena.
There are no shortcuts in cultivation.
If you wish others to know about your good deeds,
they are not truly good deeds.
If you fear others will find out about your bad deeds,
those are truly bad deeds

None can live without toil and a craft that provides your needs is a blessing indeed. But if you toil without rest, fatigue and wearness will overtake you, and you will denied the joy that comes from labour's end.
Speak quietly and kindly and be not forward with either opinions or advice. If you talk much, this will make you deaf to what others say, and you should know that there are few so wise that they cannot learn from others.
Be near when help is needed, but far when praise and thanks are being offered.
Remember always that you are just a visitor here, a traveler passing through. your stay is but short and the moment of your departure unknown.
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead, nurture love within you and and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm for many wounds.
Treasure silence when you find it, and while being mindful of your duties, set time aside, to be alone with yourself.
Cast off pretense and self-deception and see yourself as you really are.
Despite all appearances, no one is really evil. They are led astray by ignorance. If you ponder this truth always you will offer more light, rather then blame and condemnation.
You, no less than all beings have Buddha Nature within. Your essential Mind is pure. Therefore, when defilements cause you to stumble and fall, let not remose nor dark foreboding cast you down. Be of good cheer and with this understanding, summon strength and walk on.
Faith is like a lamp and wisdom makes the flame burn bright. Carry this lamp always and in good time the darkness will yield and you will abide in the Light.

The Purpose of Life

The Purpose of Life
Life exists in itself - there is no inherent meaning attached to life. However - as all human beings (and animals) wish for happiness and not to suffer - the purpose of life may be said to end that suffering

Using the items that are supposed to offer to Buddhas to offer to the poor or animals, Buddha says that it has the same merits as offering to thousands of Buddhas. Compassion merit is the greatest merit.

Einstein on Buddhism
Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and spritual; and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity.

If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism.

A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compasion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.

To take care of my anger,
I bring attention to my breathing
and look deeply inside myself.
Right away I notice an energy there called anger.
...
Then I recognize that
I need another kind of energy
to take care of this anger,
and I invite that energy
to come up to do that job.
This second energy is called mindfulness.
Every one of us has the seed of mindfulness within us.
If we know how to touch that seed,
we can begin to generate the energy of mindfulness,
and with that energy,
we can take good care of the energy of anger.

why is Guan Yin Pusa so zhun one in the lots she give to people?
i'm respectfully asking, does anyone know what's the reason? what kind of power?
Buddha said in the sutras that Guan Yin Pusa has great affinity with the beings in this world.
If one is sincere in asking for help and has faith, Guanyin Pusa will help all sentient beings regardless of race, language or religion. The amazing thing is I usually don't say my prayer out aloud what I'm asking. I say the prayer in my heart and my prayer is answered and the lot is "zhun".
In Buddhism, we believe words are empty as humans created them. So, Guanyin Pusa is listening to our thoughts, not our words.
In fact, the "highest level" of practice is 心想事成 (things happen according to our wishes), no need to ask for help.
