While 'birds' of similar karmic 'feathers' flock together as family, individual karma still exists. No one is doomed to suffer with one's family as karma is dynamic, up to us to 'tweak' with new positive karma created, which creates fresh potential to dilute and thus transform past negative karmic potentials. Cause and Effect
Some people are born and lose their parents at an early age. Or are born to lose either parent at some early stage. Some are born not to have children or grand-children, or born to have children but with no grand-children. Some are born to be separated from their parents. These are the results of past Karmic actions, such as killing animlas and destroying homes and lives (including animals). In order to build a happy home family, we have to protect, prevent, save and free living beings (including animals) at all times.

If we are poor, we should not be depressed but make strenuous efforts to gain the true internal wealth of Dharma realizations, since this is the real source of happiness and peace of mind. With a contented mind we will be happy even without wealth; but, if we have a discontented mind, we will be unhappy no matter how rich we may become.

Freedom of mind is the real freedom.
A person whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man.
One whose mind is not free, though he may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man.
One whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead.
Freedom of mind is the proof of one's existence.

Followings are the Buddhists' Four Great Vows :
( In Buddhism, sentiment beings are referring to beings in heaven, humans, demi-god, animals, ghosts & hell).
Sentiment beings are innumerable;
I vow to help them all.
Afflictions are inexhaustible;
I vow to end them all.
Ways to practice are boundless;
I vow to master them all.
Enlightenment is unsurpassable;
I vow to attain it.
四弘誓愿
众生无边誓愿度,
烦恼无尽誓愿断,
法门无量誓愿学,
佛道无上誓愿成。

Do not encumber your mind with useless thoughts. What good is it to brood over the past and fret about the future? Dwell in the simplicity of the present moment. Live in harmony with the dharma. Make it the heart of your life and experience. Be the master of your own destiny.
