i want to do good simply because it will help others. being able to be free from suffering, the cycles of life etc will never be my goal or even part of my intent to do good. that defeats the purpose of why i do good in the first place.
if i end up having to be reborn again, then so be it, hopefully i will be reborn as a human again so that i can continue to do good for others. if not, i also won't remember and know anyway, so why would i care?
Have a deeper thought about this. What is the ultimate good? It is to help others to relieve from cycles of rebirth. You can help them in this life but can you help them in their countless future lives? Just like we can donate to the Africans who are suffering, save them from hunger in this life, what if they reborn in Africa again in their next life? This is endless unless they are relieve from cycles of rebirth. However, before one helps others relieve from cycles of rebirth, one has to relieve from cycles of rebirth 1st just like Pusa.
No one can tell what will happen in your next life, may be you need help instead of having the ability to help others. If one is born under unfavourable conditions, likelihood one will commit sin because of survival. This will lead to vicious cycles of unfavourable rebirths.
I always tell myself that in this life, I have favourable conditions, this is the best time to practice and relieve from rebirths. If not, I won't know what's going to happen in my next life because my many past lives retributive actions can happen in my next life.
May be you are in favourable conditions now, there are many people who are suffering from illnesses or unfavourable conditions always ask what had they done in their past lives to deserve all these.
